The initial stage and business development of the company
The project started as a family
business involving a mother and her three children – two sons and a daughter. This family initially engaged in
mushroom cultivation in the Molėtai region, Lithuania. Start-up company "MB Pjaunu Grybą" was founded on November
11, 2021. They grow edible and medicinal mushrooms such as Shiitake, Lion's Mane, Eringi, Maitake, and others.
Initially, it was a small family farm, but over time, they decided to expand their activities. The conditions
related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the first lockdown helped the project operate more successfully. This created
conditions to invest in modern mushroom growing tools.
Company restructuring
MB "Pjaunu
grybą" transformed into UAB "Mishkay Biotech". The company restructured from a small community into a private
limited company. This allows the company to more efficiently organize its activities, attract investments, and
develop the project.
Investments and business expansion
The business accelerator
"Tesonet" invested in "MISHKAY," which became a sign that the project has potential and credibility. Plans are in
place to double these investments within a year to facilitate faster expansion into other markets. Additionally,
there is a plan to invest about 5 million euros in new production facilities to increase production capacity. This
reflects the company's determination and ambitions to increase production and expand the market.
Plans
and vision
The company's goal is to become one of the top three medical mushroom growers and
dietary supplement manufacturers in the European Union. The desire to expand into the EU market demonstrates
significant potential and the aim to become a well-known "MISHKAY" brand internationally.
Product
quality and ecology
The company makes significant efforts to ensure the highest quality of its
products. Mushrooms are grown using certified, organic substrate without artificial materials and fertilizers. In
the process of mushroom cultivation and product manufacturing, they strive to follow a "zero-waste" approach,
meaning that everything is utilized, and nothing is wasted. Unused substrate meant for growing mushrooms is given to
farmers, making it an excellent biofuel. They aim to completely eliminate the use of plastic and produce packaging
from recycled and already-used materials.
Team roles and responsibilities
Each family
member has their own area in which they contribute to the success of the project. This demonstrates a strong
organizational structure, process management, and the division of responsibilities. Years of experience in farming,
professional experience in other companies, modern customer communication methods, and market connections, along
with a family-oriented approach to business, yield positive results.
Conclusion
The
"Pjaunu grybą" project is an excellent example of how a family business can grow into a promising and expandable
company. Investments, strategic restructuring, and high product quality are key factors that enable this business to
successfully expand and seek international recognition.
